The Utility Manager Cost Avoidance
Overview
The Utility Manager™ (UM) Cost Avoidance application is an extremely powerful tool that identifies, tracks, and verifies the hard dollar savings and avoided costs of capital improvement projects, energy procurement initiatives, and conservation programs.
UM Cost Avoidance complies with the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol (IPMVP) and is an accepted industry standard for measurement and verification.
Benefits
- Serves as a tool to help manage and validate energy-saving programs
- Measures and reports cost savings from energy management initiatives
- Offers flexible calculation methods that can be customized to compare all sites together or one site to another and within each utility service
- Verifies savings claims of third-party performance contractors
How it Works
UM Cost Avoidance incorporates bill data, meter data, and adjustment factors into the Cost Avoidance application which then measures and compares each year's utility performance against an adjusted base year. The site specific current year usage and cost is compared to the adjusted base year and the level of savings is automatically determined. The calculated savings can then be viewed through customized reports. Adjustment factors can include square footage, equipment load, operating hours, utility rates, and weather through linear regression. Savings can be identified at the site, group, region, or division level. Information is presented in a variety of report formats designed to meet the needs of energy and facility management, accounting, and executive management.
